Automaton Art Class with Orono High School's Chapter 104

Today we held a fabulous art class with Orono High School's gifted art program— Chapter 104! The students were amazing and we all had an exciting and interesting learning experience with the art subject. We used gears to create moving sculpture pieces using the idea that we all have different ways of presenting ourselves. The four subjects we used were: Real Self-Portrait, Alterego, Spirit Animal, and Inner Demon. Using acrylic paint and collage, students made their different faces and glued them onto blocks that are connected on a skewer. Using the gears, students are able to move the blocks to show the four different faces. This moving sculpture was a very interesting subject and we at UMAECO are glad that the Chapter 104 students had a fun and rewarding experience
